The Grootslang supposedly lives in the Richtersveld area of South Africa. According to legend, the Grootslang was found to be too powerful, so the gods divided the animal into two species: the elephant and the snake, however some escaped and survive to the present day.

Laura P. painted The Anguished Man from a photo reference featuring a whispy feature off to the side that appeared in the photo after development. Aside from the painting being unsettling to look at, it has sparked many paranormal events.
