You will often see Carol Bernier working with yellows, oranges and reds. Red is her safe colour – she feels most comfortable with it and finds herself going back to it often. However, in addition to the red, the yellows and oranges come from her desire to paint with fire.
While starting the painting in the centre, Carol was listening to the news of the divers saving the children trapped in a flooded cave in Thailand. Through that, Carol created an underwater atmosphere with flecks of pink and bright colours representing the hope of being rescued.
Come visit our Cooperage Space for a closer look at these magnificent pieces by Marie-Josée Roy, Étienne Gélinas and Yoakim Bélanger! They really do stand out beautifully against the aged distillery walls.

These three pieces really embody the title of the exhibition “Iles en vue” meaning "islands in sight". In these pieces, Bernier has created mirages in a far-off distance, coming up on the horizon. Their location is up to your imagination! #distillerydistrict #canadianart
