28 March 1699 #OTD Alice Thornton wrote to her son-in-law, Thomas Comber, at the Deanery of @durhamcathedral thanking him for letting his wife, Nally, visit her at East Newton. She advised Comber not to make the same journey in the wintry weather.
21. Feb 1662 #OTD Alice Thornton was prescribed a remedy for her ongoing illness by Dr Wittie, 'by plaster on my back & belly...which with God's blessing prevail for a perfect recovery.' (Bk Rem)
#RandomActsOfKindnessDay! In 1639, Alice and her mother and nephews were heading back to Dublin by boat when a terrible storm hit. 'And but for a fisher boat sent from Mr Hubert to assist the king's ship in distress, we [would have] undoubtedly perished' (Bk1).
5 Jan. 1667 #OTD Alice Thornton's son Robert, 4 years old, fell ill with small pox and remained gravely sick for over 2 weeks. Alice wrote, "my dear Robin Thornton began his sickness of the small pox being very ill & weak for 2 days" (Bk 1).
