Say what you will about it’s legitimacy(I won’t, not my field), but “Pythonomorpha” goes hard
Ok, time for the classic “build a zoo of prehistoric animals” game. Keeping in mind the likely constraints, what selection of animals would you choose? Feel free to list as many as you wish, again, remembering real world constraints.
Something kinda funny about having grown up at the height of “this giant theropod is bigger than T.rex,” only to have the majority of studies/estimates sink that idea and now T.rex is as large as, if not more massive than, it’s fellow megatheropods later in life.
Random dino doc reviews: Prehistoric Park, 2006. A fun, somewhat silly adventure that does a pretty decent job at presenting its subjects, though not as strongly as CBD before it. @Nigelmarven is a treat as always, though some info is hit or miss. A respectable 7/10
Random dino doc reviews: Dinosaurs Alive, 2007. This IMAX movie features a lot of decent, if occasionally outdated, information. Models/designs are mostly good with a few wonky looks. Overall the goal is education on a grand scale and that’s commendable. A solid 7/10 here
I’m still amazed how many folks don’t know the difference between an alligator and a crocodile. That’s not an insult, it’s just crazy to me. Which teeth are exposed and shape of the snout is the easiest/fastest way to tell them apart. Also one sees you later…
Random dino doc reviews: Walking With Dinosaurs(1999). Solid story telling, great score, and quality special effects like nothing before it on TV. Suffers from some weird scientific goofs and aging. Highly entertaining though with reasonable animal behaviors. Overall, 7/10
So, I was thinking about things I’d change in Jurassic World Dominion. I’ll just focus on a few main things, I’m not talking a total rewrite. First off, instead of an exposition dump at the start, open on a scene like Big Rock where people are dealing with dinosaurs…
With bears vs T.rex circulating again, I can’t help but think how ridiculous the idea is and, yet, I guarantee there’s at least one person out there that’ll make an argument for the bear. Credit to @MarkWitton below…
Ok, creature design discussion today. My hot take…Vastatosaurus rex isn’t that interesting. I like it, but I don’t hate generic designs personally. But V.rex isn’t isn’t that unique looking 🤷🏻♂️
