Also, the new art style is just not as funny as the old one. There's just something hilarious about those stiff old Hanna-Barbera drawings standing around barely reacting to all the madness around them.

Pirate Cat started off as a throwaway joke character I drew for the Masks game I'm playing (drawing below). I was coming up with a bunch of funny cat people and I thought it'd be funny if one was a meme cat, so I made one called "Pirate Cat".
