I've been reading No. 5 by Taiyo Matsumoto and in the book he says that he wanted to make a comic that combines what he likes about American comics, European comics and Japanese comics and I totally see it. It's like a Garth Ennis story drawn by Moebius but also a seinen manga.
I'm a little annoyed at these cover art for Kaiju No. 8. I was like, oh shit look at all these cool monster designs in all these different settings! Then I read the manga and it's just samey-looking monsters in samey-looking environments for 70+ chapters.
I just realized that the only movie in the new Dreamworks logo that was not a licensed adaptation was Kung Fu Panda. Even Trolls is based on a toy.
