oh yeah, i almost forgot - this is supposed to be the sons of saturn gang! i wanted them to evoke various different muppets. not featured in the title sequence is their sandy cheeks-lookin leader who i will probably redesign later

in general i was going for somewhere between the buzz lightyear cartoon and the parts of steven universe where lars goes space pirate captain harlock. a vibe that future episodes will retain but with more emphasis on character animation. stay tuned!!!

the ROSCU ship was a beast in its own right but the decision to make it just this big fuckin SHAPE was good on my part because i could use 3D reference, something i recommend in every given situation

this static version of the broken mothership is honestly one of my favorite things i've ever drawn. the whole time i was like "this will show up for three seconds and i have to be ok with this"

the ships were a fun challenge and one of the first things i drew for the episode since i knew they'd take a while. i wanted to make them a little organic. i probably should've just done a full turnaround for these since i got so many angles on them anyway
