Some of my favorite works of 2022. Not a bad year for art, did a bunch of Aphelion pages, and got TankEater set up. Only made a few pages of Sanguine Tensor though, but that comic's designed to be put on the backburner.
Process for page 17, this one took a while. I redid the perspective for the Hellflower after the initial sketch, using a model of an SR-71 to help.
Anyways, if you want to know how I get these effects, the answer is loads of layers. I counted 60 visible layers for this page.
Come on baby.
Don't fear the reaper.
Baby, take my hand.
Don't fear the reaper.
We'll be able to fly.
Don't fear the reaper.
Baby, I'm your man.
Sanguine Tensor #2 begins! Current words are largely placeholders.
For those new to this, Sanguine Tensor is my speedy comic with supervillains versus COINTELPRO in an alternate 1980s.
Process! A bunch of text will be added later so that's why some parts look empty.
At some point I realized that making large sections of the comic be about hyper-intelligent hive minds talking to each other meant that depicting it would be an exercise in futility.
So now I'm just going for the trippiest coolest looking things I can.
Process for page 14, I try to fill in the biggest overall area tones so I get an idea of the composition early on.
THERE IS NAUGHT BUT SCREAMING AT THE CENTER OF AN ATOM.
Time for... the process!
I found the droplet tool in CSP and I'm now obsessed with it. Have I gone overboard with it? Probably. Do I regret it? Not at all.
