Today I learned that the reason all the console spinoff Petz games are so weird and eclectic is cos they're actually around ten entirely different japanese franchises randomly renamed and redrawn.
For example "Petz Dogz 2 DS" is actually Ocha-Ken no Heya DS

Ohhhhh man I remember I REALLY loved Mutant Cybunny as a kid! I think I actually joined with my goal being to ultimately get one? I never managed to get either a Cybunny or any mutant pets at all before I got bored of the sheer grinding, alas

Rune Factory is so weird how they have a really good and unique slime design and just never use it. All the official arts have it with a lil face nucleus and adorable noodle arms and then in-game it's just the most generic featureless placeholder-lookin lump...

Randomly nostalgic for My Little Pony Friendship Gardens!
It was just a very rudimentary pet raising sim combined with small print based minigames to make custom stickers and stuff.
But the animations were surprisingly well made, very fluid and adorable!
