Another mock book cover (both the book and author name are imaginary) but I wanted to try my hand at some hand lettering. This is my first time playing with it! Head over to https://t.co/mTsmZFc39Y to see some process shots!
This is completely unsponsored, but Blick sent me a piece of Winsor and Newton’s watercolor paper and I really liked it! It’s the first paper I’ve used that works almost exactly like my cold press Arches. Let's see how their blocks hold up to washes...
This was an experiment with painting without a plan – something I NEVER do. It’s fun sometimes to just PAINT without worrying about the result…but I’m usually too frugal to do it. I had a tiny corner leftover on my watercolor block though, so I finally got to play!
A character design I’m still chipping away at; this one’s half digital.
Here’s another mock book cover, this time for one of my favorite children’s books #thewindinthewillows. The stories feel like a series of pleasant vignettes to me, so I decided to feature a few different scenes on the cover. 🌿 #childrensillustration
Here’s a mock wrap-around #bookcover I made last week for my middle grade illustration portfolio! First image is the cover only; the second is the full wrap-around and the last two are close-ups! ✨ #childrensillustrator #childrensillustration
I saw this #faceyourart meme going around today and thought I’d jump aboard, especially because faces are by far my favorite thing to draw! This made me realize how much I draw my characters facing to the left, hmm. 🤔
A little warm up painting from last week. Springtime where I live means flowers and thunderstorms. 🌸☔️🌸 #childrensillustrator #childrensillustration #gouache
Even witches have lab partners! What were your favorite subjects in school? Mine were – predictably – English and art, but I also liked science. 📚🎨🔬 I would’ve liked it even more if we somehow got to make little kitty blobs! ✨ #childrensillustration #childrensillustrator
