when he noticed that his hair was graying, he had a mini crisis that he wasted most of his life studying and hardly... well, living. so, he created hj-7 in order to become young, to become invincible to diseases and to cure any diseases. he tried it and it worked, creating hyde.

so, basically it takes place around the 1980s (will probably change) where jekyll is a well-known surgeon and doctor in his area, having experience ever since he was a young man (he wanted to enter the field when he was 15, and he's now in his mid-30s)
