@underratedin4k @sleepyzcurates The characters and concepts of Indian mythos and culture have existed for thousands of years, and have been illustrated and re-enacted by thousands of artists.
I re-contextualize classic Indian paintings with modern pop culture influences!
@HChipNFT Hey Chip!
These are my recent pieces!
My art is a fresh take on history, tradition and myth. I use modern palettes and elements from pop culture to re-contextualize characters and concepts that have existed for thousands of years!
In the lore, Lakhsmana Rekha is a protective boundary that Rama's younger brother puts up to protect Sita from danger
In my version, I converted this into a more active defence in the form of a taser. The nazar🧿 sign is to ward off the evil eye
I strayed from the original composition coz I really wanted Sita to have a strong role
In the original, she is depicted as being helpless and overwhelmed with grief.
In my version, Sita runs interference with a weapon of her own, and ends up saying Jatayu from a fatal blow
@SariraMerikhi Culture needs to be constantly reinterpreted to remain relevant.
The characters and concepts of Indian mythos and culture have existed for thousands of years, and have been illustrated and re-enacted by thousands of artists.
I'm merely doing the same!
@harsha_nik Chains of FATE
Inspired by a 12th century sculpture in a Hindu temple, it depicts a Deity brutally defeating a soldier, disemboweling him with her eight hands, to remind him that all mortals are bound by the chains of their ultimate fate.
