Meredydd recorded for @smithsonian in 1954. He and his wife Phyllis published several books together, taking Welsh music global. Their influence on Welsh popular culture was immense, their knowledge of traditional music something they were proud to pass on.

We are very happy to award the Welsh Music Inspiration Award 2019 to Meredydd Evans & Phyllis Kinney. Their dedication to Welsh song is unparalleled. Phyllis, from Michigan USA lives in Ceredigion. Meredydd, from Llanegryn, would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year.
