The design of the title screen eluded us for a while! To make it cooler and give it more personality, we created two new characters, 'Arte' and 'Fighte', to fill it in and represent both teams! ⚔️

And yes, we're submitting them as characters in Art Fight next year too! 🎧🐳

We wanted to showcase multiple characters from different artists in equal standing, and be able to mimic the Art Fight experience of discovering new characters. Thus, we opted to make Duel a card game! 🃏🐳

Even then the very first mock-up sketches were a fantastic aid to help shape the vision and direction of the game!

Whalechan's and Polite's new designs were unveiled with #artfight2020 and with it, folks have already started making fantastic/adorable art of her again! Thank you so much for drawing her! 🥰💛

We’ve come a long way since we first designed Whalechan, and figured that she needed to grow and change along us!

Through a lot of brainstorming and iteration, she eventually evolved into a more symbolic, whaleistic and representative whalegirl! She's looks even MORE cute! 🥲🧡

Despite her original simple design, Whalechan quickly became a favourite among friends and communities! Over the years her design has received a lot of dashing and love-filled artwork! 🥰

‘Whalechan’ was also an inside-joke sketch from a casual conversation and mocked up with a mildly suggestive design. 👀

The idea stuck, but she was re-designed to be much cuter and in-line with WAG at the time! She debuted as, and has since been, our Discord server announcer! 🐳

Since then we've featured him a lot! Most notably as our logo and avatar, which has more than 15 variations of already and counting!

In the future, we will be refreshing our branding and featuring Polite even more! For now, these are some of our favourite past avatars of his! 🥰

Let’s start with the adorable 'Polite Whale'! Before becoming our mascot he was @JorgeGameDev's pen-name and one of our inside-jokes. 🐋

One day, @MoskiDraws mocked up a logo of what would eventually evolve to WAG’s emblem. It featured Polite and he’s been our mascot ever since!
