viruladen - combination of 'virulent' (adjective for 'venomous') and 'laden'. based on the platypus, which are indeed venomous irl.

arnkerloche (forgot the r in the image whoops)- combination of 'arnkerrthe' (the indigenous name for the thorny devil) and 'moloch' (the genus of which the thorny devil is the sole member of). based on the thorny devil as well as the blue-tailed skink. name credit to @/beigriff

wallowby- combination of 'wallow' (meaning to roll around in mud or water) and 'wallaby'. based on the eastern hare wallaby, an extinct variation of the species, with elements of the endangered western brush wallaby.

taidle- from japanese 'taida' (lazy) and english 'idle', but is also a play on 'tidal'. probably the most obvious inspiration, being based on the good old platypus. actually a revamp of a much older fakemon of mine.

skalcine- combination of 'skink' and 'calcine' (heating a substance to oxidize it). based on the blue-tailed skink that was native to christmas island, but with slight thorny devil elements thrown in.

sandicoot- simple combination of 'sand' and 'bandicoot' (another name for the bilby). based on the lesser bilby, a species that went extinct in the 1950s that was known for its white fur and aggressive behaviour.
