It's day 15 of our #CollectionsCountdowntoChristmas. We're taking a look at Lucienne Day's floral textile design, Poinsetta, made for Heal's in 1966 @Robin_Lucienne.
Join us tomorrow lunchtime for Walking for Wellbeing - an excellent way to get active, explore the art in our park, and make new friends #walkingforwellbeing #whitworthoutdoors #galleryinthepark https://t.co/mtLqsM0Vmf
#CollectionsCountdowntoChristmas Day 7:
Clare Leighton's woodcut 'Cutting' (1931) shows two men felling a massive evergreen tree. In this print the artist beautifully captures the contrast between the saw's sharp teeth & the amorphous quality of the snow. https://t.co/fdyw0VmWTW
For day 3 of our #CollectionsCountdowntoChristmas, here's #WalterCrane's pencil and watercolour illustration from 'Black Books' Series: 'but "who's afraid?" says the robin who has come on a visit.' https://t.co/lYNXWZkP0c
Happy Birthday to William Blake #bornonthisday in 1757! 'The Ancient of Days', from our collection, was first painted by Blake in 1794. He repeatedly returned to it, redrawing & repainting it for the rest of his life. This one was coloured by Blake just before his death in 1827.
