This artwork didn't take me long at all, it's another try to move into a bit of a new direction with the shading technique. I kind of like limited color palettes lately. Hope you like it! 🌸

This started as a de-stress post-work doodle. Now I went back to it and played around with it a bit more. How do you like this "rough" style? Removing the skin shade created an interesting effect ...

I shade using a single layer because it feels more organic to me. I also exclusively shade in grayscale.
I use the poseable 3D dolls that come with Clip Studio Paint for light and shadow references. It comes in handy for perspectives, too.

I was asked about my approach to shading, and thought I could as well share it - this is the shading layer or a piece I'm still working on. I shade using various textured brushes in big sizes. The thought is that the form should be understood even without lineart.
