2009 portrait of @AnaSilveraMusic. I tried to create a composition that conveys a sense of otherworldliness through the subtle distortion of perspective, yet also evokes a sense of nostalgia for European history and the English appetite for both the ironic and macabre.

It turns out the subject of this painting, 'Margaret Tryon,’ has quite an extensive backstory. This is news to me; I was drawn to the 18th century portrait by the perculiar angular qualities to the sitter’s corset, which had potential for abstracting.
