The same sort of issue is also why Dahlia has some serious scarring around her own ports. It's hard to know how hybrids will react to heavy-duty medication sometimes!

Her entire ribcage/spine are reinforced to hold those ports in place safely. She actually used to be fairly scrawny, but gained a lot of weight shortly after getting the sockets put in (hybrid biology reacting unexpectedly to painkillers). This led to a LOT of strength training.
