@TessaThompson_x Captain Marvel breaks box office records. It has the biggest opening weekend for a movie directed by a woman and for a few months becomes the internationally highest grossing film ever directed a women, briefly breaking Frozen's record before being overtaken by Frozen II.

As we say adieu to 2019 here is my year in review with the most notable news about women directors and their films:

Captain Marvel took over the title of highest domestic gross for a film directed by a woman from Wonder Woman.

However WW director Patty Jenkins still holds the domestic record for highest grossing film directed by a woman directing solo.

While a lot of attention is going to the Avengers record breaking box office another movie broke records this weekend.

Anna Boden now holds the title for highest domestic gross for a film directed by a woman for Captain Marvel (which she co-directed w/ Ryan Fleck)!

Captain Marvel directed by Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck opens this weekend! It's the 2nd movie directed by a woman to open in wide release in 2019.
