Alan Kulwicki was nick named
"Special K" for a reason. His engineering degree was key to his racing success. His focus for detail was unreal. Jr. Johnson offered him 1 million dollars to drive for him and Alan declined 2 times to continue to run and race his own team. https://t.co/7w6coaAhTw

Alan Kulwicki
Greenfield, Wi.

Alan Kulwicki was a unique person. As a child growing up he lost his mother a very young age. He moved in with his grandmother and she soon passed away and not long after his brother died of a illness. Alot for a young AK to process.

Danny Ongais
Kahului, Hawaii

Danny Ongais was a race car driver that only knew one way to drive! Wide Open!
Danny was a 12 time starter of the Indy 500, who raced motorcycles, sports cars, F1 and even drag cars! A very quite, very private driver that mainly keep to himself.

Van May even had success driving
"Mud Turtles" !
In the next shot with Van in the center he is hanging out with the legend
Jan Opperman. That is Van's brother racer Dub May in this photo!
Van also mastered the midgets as well seen here in victory lane in the racer!
