"Hooker" Hood was a highly regarded football player and Golden Gloves Boxer but chose to race and race he did! Riverside in West Memphis, Mid South Fairgrounds in Memphis saw Hood race 7 days a week. "Motorsickles", modifieds, midgets and sprint cars was his path to stardom! 🏁

@wrenchtwister00 and the Statewide Racing Team with Jimmy Horton was racing Devils Bowl Speedway in Texas in the 80,s ! I learned something at that track from the Legendary Kenny Woodruff. He told me to "unhook" the race car or Jimmy was going to bust his ass! @braddoty18 #gumbo

A friend and fellow Canadian who turned huge rivals later in their career, Don Biederman convinced Jr. to move to Ontario so he could race more often! Victories for Jr became common at tracks such as Pinecrest, Cayuga, Delaware just to name a few! Racing 7 days a week was common.
