Fun fact, Claydol is based off of Jōmon era Shakōkidogū; ancient clay figurines made across Japan (with the exception of Okinawa) which still lack a consensus about what they were used for.
Honestly, Relicanth is one of my favourite fish pokemon 🐟
Relicanth is based on the Coelacanth, a fish thought to have gone extinct 65mya, but 2 species have been found living in the Indian and Pacific Oceans after the fish was discovered again in the 30s!
Holy shit that archaeologist wasn’t lying, that bronze can gong 😳 (thanks @Moovorii for the pokemon suggestion)
Also fun archaeology time, Bronzong is actually based off of Yayoi era Dōtaku. Made of bronze, Dōtaku were bronze bells used for agricultural ceremonies and rites!
