As a Ukrainian, this year I’m not going to “wish for peace”, because these general hopes are systematically destroyed by russian missiles.

Instead, I’ll wish for us to stay so incredibly strong, resilient, dignified and most of all - happy with what (and who) we have 💛

@Handsome_Frank I can’t call it a “favorite”, but it’s definitely the most important one. Difficult topics have been absolutely the center of everything 🇺🇦 artists created this year, including me.

@helloomabel Consider Ukrainian folk tales 💛🇺🇦 I just recently finished a book illustrating those, will gladly share references to help choose best known ones!

As a Ukrainian illustrator, before taking on commissions I:

- make sure the project doesn’t involve russians, hidden russians, russian orgs or russian distribution

- say no to all the “reputable” orgs and regret you ever agreed to work with one (hello @ICRC @UN @amnesty)

Billions of dollars that russia could have used for... Healthcare? Roads? Education? Nah, let’s destroy civilian infrastructure in Ukraine for the reason not even russians understand. Some of them don’t have electricity or sewage and live in extreme poverty, but who cares right?

Ukrainians are learning to build their lives from scratch. All of us: no matter the language, religion, gender, or color. Abroad or in Kyiv, fleeing or staying. So thank you for your support, friends. We will remember your help for generations to come.
