Took a few quick pics of @scottpegan's beloved Belonocnema, asexual gen. of all 3 known spp based on our 2020 revision. B. fossoria (FL, on Q. geminata), B. kinseyi (west side of Gulf of Mexico, on Q. fusiformis/virginiana) and B. treatae (east side of Gulf, on Q. virginiana).
Mmm turns out my collaborator Tatsuya Ide at @museum_kahaku in Tokyo made these drawings! I also love this one illustrating all the major body parts of a gall wasp. https://t.co/bLlnkQ97WU
I can't wait until we officially throw the Pteros away, come on John JUST DO IT ALREADY!
Myself, @MikeGates17 et al. just described a new genus of Central/South American #Eurytomidae in @HymenopteraJour. The name Kavayva “wasp of the fruit that gives seeds” In the Guarani Native American language. https://t.co/Jkr6AFE1Qt
Manuscript submitted, a new genus of Neotropical eurytomid (hopefully) coming soon! Until then enjoy this gorgeous illustration by @tainalitwak!
If I make my phylogenetic tree super colorful, maybe nobody will ask what it means...
These gall wasp lifecycle cartoons from https://t.co/5oZKNM5WIx are SO ADORABLE!
