I don’t know what I thought Mikhail Bulgakov’s The Master & The Margherita was about...but this is delightful. (I also feel that Bulgakov must have been an influence on Terry Pratchett- pointed social satire and the very literal fantastic/cosmic. Diff. tone, but same tradition.)

On the eve before surgery, I just want to say an uncharacteristically sincere 'thank you' to everyone who donated, who has called or texted to say they were thinking of me or to wish me luck, or who has sent takeout money, knowing my healing form will need noodles made by not me.

The problem with not getting married to anyone is that I have never gotten an opportunity to get decent cookware out of everyone as a gift.

I want a spouse, sure, but I mostly want Le Creuset, and I don't think I'm wrong.
