When I first heard of Seihou (Western) Project and how it's "Touhou but with a Western theme" My mind went to an aesthetic looking like if Gun & Frontier and Wild Arms had a baby that was big on cute anime girls.

Hime Cut is that kind of long hair, blunt bangs, straight cut look you see on japanese princess and gothic lolita characters a lot

I feel like part of the reason why that one HD model mod for SM64PC looked so weird was because it used modern Mario's design, which inherently clashed with SM64's art style.
Something about his face proportions. even Odyssey Mario feels like an entirely different design.
