in a very similar vain (surprisingly) is frieren - beyond journey's end. a party of heroes defeats the demon king, but what comes after? mainly for the borderline immortal elf of the group? a (mostly) low stakes story about the passage of time and what we leave for others.

It's so cool to think how in Sousou no Frieren, the way chapters are written shows how Frieren perceives time. One chapter consists of several months or even years. Idk if that was intentional but still pretty good writing.

I'm SO HAPPY Frieren's being published in English, it's so good. An interesting magic system, fantastic art and characters, INCREDIBLE PACING, and one of my favorite tropes ever: a non-human's look at human society.

『葬送のフリーレン』６巻まで読んだ今、改めて1話を読み返すと初読時よりも面白さを段違いに感じる。フリーレンが涙を流したことの重みが当時の何倍にも伝わってきて心に沁みるんですよ…。
