구강철내용이 원작자가 미리 알려준 원작의 결말을 듣고 만들었단게 믿기지 않지만 비교해보면 비슷한점이 정말 많음

로이는 눈을 잃고
알은 자신을 희생하여 형을 살리고
그렇게 살아난 에드는 다시 알이 되찾아준 팔을 사용해 알을 되살림
그리고 구강에드도 신강에드도 연금술을 잃고 여행을 떠남.

진짜 나 구강철에서 나오는 "슬슬 안정적으로 정착하지 그래?"이 부분 너무 좋아함.................ㅠㅠ
이 앞에 로이가 에드에 대해 줄줄 말하는 것도 그렇고 그 긴 대화의 끝이 에드가 떠돌아다니지 않고 한곳에 머물며 안정적으로 살길 바란다는게...진짜 너무 좋아 죽겠음.

반대로 신강(브라더후드)의 로이는 에드를 어린애가 아닌, 등을 맡길 수 있는 어엿한 한명의 전우로 생각하고 있는 것이 아닐까?라고 생각하게 된 것이 바로 이 부분.로이가 로스를 죽인 것이라 오해한 에드가 로이의 멱살을 잡는데 이런 에드를 잘 타이르긴 커녕 자신을 미워하도록 뺨을 갈김.

로이의 이런 생각은 곁에 있는 리자에게도 전해져 리자 역시 대령님이 에드를 붙잡아 두려고 한 이유는 에드를 지키고 싶어서 그랬다는 식으로 말하기도 했는데 이런 보호자-피보호자의 관계가 깨진것이 48화 <작별>이라고 생각함.
로이도 에드도 서로 직감적으로 자신들이 만나는 것이 마지막임을

개인적으로 난 구강로이가 에드를 보호하려는 어른같은 느낌이 들었음.
8화 시작부에서 죽은 니나를 보며 이성을 찾지 못하는 에드를 타이를 때도, 43화에서 어른들을 믿지 않고 도망치는 에드를 혼낼때도 아무리 에드가 강해봤자 어린애고 보호해줘야한다는 생각을 갖고있는게 느껴졌음.
