I mean pretty sure both are by Yusuke Ohmura.
If a more round and tinier eyes is weird why not a white sclera? The poses are no less dynamic either

honestly all of the male trainer’s outfits in the acting place gave me so much gender envy. especially these ones
I kept replaying the scenarios just to look at them

Dayum this is some old janky art that needs revisiting some day. Jesus. It would be cool to make art based on the alternative endings too with this as the premise.

ポケモン新作の主人公、顔だけでなく幼すぎるのと服装にも違和感
普段着っぽくない「ポケモントレーナー」の服の方が没入感あると思うのよね…これは個人的に好きなエメラルドとbw2の主人公

ポケモン新作の主人公の顔、今までと違う感じで慣れないけど、
BWからBW2の時も、キャラデザ全然違って、？！ってなったけど慣れたから多分慣れるよね🥳
ハイライトの位置が真ん中になって新鮮だったなぁ～
