Adaman and Irida on the other hand are definitely not anybody’s ancestors. Unless they’re the ancestors of some really obscure characters I don’t know about. Otherwise, they don’t look like anybody.

Okay so, Adaman is clearly named after the Adamant Orb, since he's the leader of the Diamond Clan.
...Where does Irida's name come from then? Palkia's orb is the Lustrous Orb, not the Iridescent Orb or something.

The fact that people have a really hard time connecting Irida to an already existing character tells me that she and Adaman are original characters made specifically for #PokemonLegendsArceus
Love that you can immediately pick out this art and these designs as being the work of take (@_take_oekaki), who also designed Galar's Gym Leaders and the Aether Foundation in SM. Their work is incredible so I'm happy to see them continue to contribute to Pokémon.
