@ccarrollbeard @visoredavenger @Crunchyroll @Funimation @comicbookanime Your statement about "female anime characters ending up in the background" is factually incorrect too; the industry has hundreds of sensational female main characters, a decent chunk are even iconic.
A lot of loved manga series were created by women, you can't ignore all of that
got me thinking, imagine if Berserk was handled by the same company that does Black Lagoon. That series is well looked after and has gotten 3 artbooks within the span of 15 years. It took Berserk to get 1, albeit mediocre, after 24 years...
