#QEPD #KazukiTakahashi .
We see countless fads from the late 20th century on display. Karaoke, hidden-camera TV, fortune-telling, digital pets, gashapon toys, arcade fighting games, laser tag, yo-yos, love testers, game shows, tabletop RPGs, step rhythm games, and of course...trading card games. (2/19)
When I think of what made Kazuki Takahashi's work resonate, it was how in tune he was to the changing culture of the 90s. In his manga, Duel Monsters/M&W was just the game everyone was playing at the moment--one of many that were a medium for people to see into each other. (1/19)
Today we say goodbye to a great one.
Kazuki Takahashi, Yu/Gi/Oh! Creator
RIP

Rest in peace Takahashi Sensei .
And thank you for everything ✍🏻

Japanese authorities confirm that Kazuki Takahashi, creator of the ground-breaking manga Yu-Gi-Oh!, has passed away at 60 after an accident while snorkeling in Okinawa. https://t.co/MYfeYFZwas
@poondonkus In Latin America, the editorial Panini has recently began to publish the whole manga in tankobon format.
I bought the first volume not long ago. My plan was to collect only the first part, but we'll see.
I know my art is a long way from being anywhere close to Takahashi's. But I wanted to draw Yugi/Atem anyway. I don't know if Yugioh characters fit my style very well. So I hope the sentiment comes through regardless.
Thank you for everything, Kazuki Takahashi.
#YuGiOh
I'm not even sure where to begin. I have never cried over someone that I didn't personally know, but these news hit me like a truck. Yu-Gi-Oh was everything to me as a child and it will always have an indestructible place in my heart. Thank you so much Kazuki Takahashi. ♥
I'm just a few days away from the end of a 6-month break on Yu-Gi-Oh! (because Konami decided to jump onto the scam train), but it's a damn shame to learn of Kazuki Takahashi's passing. Amazing artist who brought the fun of not just card games, but tabletop in general, to many.
I had to do something, cuz i love Yu Gi Oh ! #YuGiOh #KazukiTakahashi
@sextant0yulij Takahashis’ legacy will never be forgotten, as long as the decks are shuffled and the cards are thrown down, and I know I will do so. So brace yourselves everyone…
@houjuucos I think for me it’s Yugi and Atem, I always saw myself in Yugi and as I grow up I hope to become confident as Atem. I always loved the Dark Magician archetype to the point that while I no longer play yugioh I always have my Dark Magician Deck.

This is very very old but my heart has been broken today.
Thank you, Kazuki Takahashi. For everything. 💔
However, when Takahashi drew this in 2019, saying "The current administration really is betraying the country, and I'm worried about the future of Japan! It's terrible. All duelists, Now is the time to be ready to vote for justice!" otaku got really pissy.
