See your ref image? Well notice how she's cel shaded. It means that her shadows are sharp well defined sections of shadow. If you want to capture that style then you should aim for defining for shadow groups first. (Example)
Y'know... I haven't done the four favorite Precure seasons thing so I'll be doing it now. Better late than never XD
