they use ichigo to "kill" the rebellious ex-sub shinigami, ginjo. ⤵️
i'm not saying the shinigamis (esp the captains) are bad, yes they're nice, but they didn't honest & sometimes saw ichigo only as a "tool".
they knew their system was corrupt but they're all doing nothing.
even a quincy like uryu noticed it too; soul society lied to ichigo. ⤵️
ichigo had no choice other than choosing his own path; he (subconsciously) let SS monitor/control him as long as they let him use the shinigami power to protect his dear ones.
he was indeed suspicious, he was skeptical, but he kept it all to himself cuz he need THAT power. ⤵️
