I'm not completely sold on the Diamond & Pearl remakes. If they're going to be one-to-one remakes of the original, would it be cheaper to get the original? I already have a 3DS, I don't see the reason why I should buy a Switch just to play these games. I hope to be proven wrong.

It's the Mercenaries mode from RE5 turned into a standalone game. No story/lore, but plenty of missions with some variations here and there. It has 8 characters, 8 weapon sets, plenty of skills, online & offline coop.
If you like RE5 Mercs and have a 3DS, give it a try 😁
