#OnThisDay 1780 Admiral Rodney in HMS SANDWICH defeated a Spanish Fleet off Cape St Vincent, Portugal. After the battle he re-supplied the besieged garrisons at Gibraltar and Minorca. The victory at St Vincent owes much to @RoyalNavy ships speed due to having copper sheath hulls.
