Hogarth's 'Trump'
Hogarth adored this little dog and he features in his paintings often. Once he was even painted urinating on the portrait of one of Hogarth's critics.

Went to @HogarthsHouse today to see the Paula Rego show including six prints intended to be reproduced on wine bottle labels. However, the true Hogarthian spirit was a bit much for the wine company and they were never used. Not surprising really. But lovely aquatint! Here's one.
‘Walpole, for all his talents, was one of the vainest, most self-satisfied and sneering individuals of the entire eighteenth century- quite a distinction, given the competition’ (J. Riding, ‘Hogarth Life in Progress, 2021). Hardly surprising given his Hanoverian-loving father!
#PaulaRego opens today at @HogarthsHouse, Chiswick: an exhibition of prints, lithographs, etchings and more, exploring how Rego's admiration for William Hogarth has inspired elements of her work https://t.co/Mx1U0J9HTc
"Marvellous & timely...makes sensitive & imaginative use of a wide range of often difficult & neglected sources, offering in the process a vivid& compelling reconstruction of the settings of Hogarth's life &artistic achievements &of the nature of the man" Linda Colley 🙏 #Hogarth

Another go at the skyrim OC I drew a literal year back. (old version on right) I'm calling him Hogarth right now, because I think it's a nice name.
Where was I? Next in the #Hogarth Hall of Fame, the wonderful team @TheLondonLib who, among other things, heroically organised book deliveries during lockdown - a lifeline over 2020. The online resources are worth the membership fee alone💐✨Cheers! 🍻

The urns have pine cone finials and rich swags of fruit and flowers, symbolising fertility. The #Hogarths' new house stood in a former orchard (the mulberry survives). WH wrote of lilies, irises & parsley as demonstrating his serpentine 'Line of Beauty'. Top right in the print
Gin Craze! A booze-soaked love ballad from the women of Gin Lane, this new musical is a raucous satire exploring the joyous excesses of Hogarth’s Britain. @aprildeangelis and @LucyRivers1 ingenious and irreverent new work will run 17-31 July @RoyalDerngate! See you there! 🥂
