It is named after Gianduia, a character in Italy’s Commedia dell'Arte. Wearing a tricorn hat and a brown jacket with red borders, Gianduja is an honest peasant of the Piemontese countryside. Today, the character is considered the official carnival mask in Torino. (+)
I would like to focus on the connection between Darkness and Negative Feelings, which is used a lot at the end of Digimon Adventure in the "World of Darkness" that Piemon controls. Interestingly, on Digimon Adventure Official Zukan II this place is called Dark Area (闇エリア)
