Call me naive or a hopeless dreamer but I just want the world to be as gentle as a Little Bear story.

Today is Father's Day. For anyone whose own father did not take the time to tell you that they loved you or are proud of you, then I will. I want you to know that I care about you and love you exactly as you are.

Literacy & a love of reading should be a gift given to all children so it is my firm belief that they should have the opportunity to spend time with a magical reading dragon.

It was Maurice Sendak’s birthday yesterday, so take a look at some of his rare drawings. https://t.co/WlUXJYWXkM via @lithub
“Let the wild rumpus start!”
― Maurice Sendak (born this day, June 10, 1928), Where the Wild Things Arex
Wisdom from wonderful children's author/artist Maurice Sendak b otd 1928:
"There must be more to life than having everything."
"I don't write for children. I write and someone says it's for children."
"I know that if there's a purpose for life, it was for me to hear Mozart."
I said anything I wanted because I don't believe in children I don't believe in childhood. I don't believe that there's a demarcation. 'Oh you mustn't tell them that.' You tell them anything you want. Just tell them if it's true. If it's true you tell them.
- Maurice Sendak
You cannot write for children... They're much too complicated. You can only write books that are of interest to them.
- Maurice Sendak, who was born #OTD in 1928
“I remember my own childhood vividly...I knew terrible things. But I knew I mustn't let adults know I knew. It would scare them”
Godfather of Wild Things Maurice Sendak was born #OTD 1928 in Brooklyn
The Wonderful Farm written by French author Marcel Aymé & illustrated by Maurice Sendak was published in 1951. It's the story of 2 little girls who have magical adventures with talking animals from their farm & the nearby woods. It was only the second book Sendak illustrated.
Born in Brooklyn to immigrant parents, Maurice Sendak's stories were shaped by his Jewish heritage and the intergenerational trauma of the Holocaust. He believed that "the touch of reality in a child’s life is a child’s comfort" and aimed to honestly depict childhood fears. #JAHM
