I went to the Taronga Zoo in Sydney. The Little Penguins swooped and glided in curtains of light that were the caustics. They looked dazzlingly blue. Thus I drew this picture.

I haven’t seen a lot of people point this out but quaquaval isn’t actually a duck like the rest of its line, it’s a grebe! look at the backwards swooping crest, pointy, not at all ducklike bill, and most tellingly the lobed feet.

I think its in the way you draw faces with thin sort of swoopy lines and the dot nose. But especially the hair, or rather the negative space around it+ the long strands of hair. I hope my shitty diagram shows the negative spaces im talkin about okay lol
