Lotosaurus, another oddity of the Triassic. A toothless, beaked, herbivorous and sail-backed Poposauroid pseudosuchian (the croc-line archosaurs) that lived during the Middle Triassic of China. There will be text over the upper side of the image #paleoart #sciart #pseudosuchians
I've always felt that the Triassic doesn't get it's due. The long necked Tanystropheus (Long Hinged) belonged to the clade Archosauromorpha, a diverse group of ancient reptiles that were the ancestors of dinosaurs. #Dinovember #paleoart

A curious Daemonosaurus observes a smaller Vancleavea (an aquatic archosauriform) that was trying to get out of the water to bask. Another Daemonosaurus calls in the foreground. Late Triassic of USA, Chinle Fm. This one is for my in-prep book #paleoart #sciart #dinosaurs
@Tomozaurus @JaimeHeadden I read somewhere they used the digit to grasp things
And I thought it made sense based on how the muscles of archosaur hands are structured
Digit 5 having a muscle to our thumb that moves the digit toward the palm
The full skeleton and life-sized model of the Mid Triassic archosaur Marasuchus lilloensis (formerly Lagosuchus), one of the ancestors of the dinosaurs.

@BrianEngh_Art does a great job pulling together a comparative anatomy and paleobiology to make his media. You can see how he uses this panel of archosaur vascular goodness. https://t.co/RBcJ46ntlF
Before there were ankylosaurs, there were Aetosaurs. The first try at an archosaurs tank. Desmatosuchus is one of the numerous #aetosaurs of the Chinless formation, one of the geological formations featured in my in-prep book. Aetosaurs came in all sizes also #paleoart #sciart
Here's the thiccy I did for the contest by @rjpalmerartist! I designed him based off of a mix of 1985, 2000, 2014, and Shin! Also some archosaur anatomy thrown in there. I really wanted the design to scream "#GODZILLA" with my own flare! #GodzillaKingOfMonsters
#ArchosaurArtApril day 23 that’s-a-Lotosaurus.
And Surprise colour! (I’m testing something for a future thing)
Had a great week in Moscow studying ankylosaurs and basal archosaurs, and just enough time to do a liitle bit of tourism before we leave
Poposauroids are among my favorite lineage within Pseudosuchia (the line of archosaurs related to crocodilians). There were so many interesting forms, among them several bipedal taxa that looked like how people used to think dinosaurs looked like #FossilFriday #paleoart #sciart
Mixed media sketch of Pteranodon sternbergi (Geosternbergia) for day 4 of #ArchosaurArtApril

WIP. Detail of an illustration showing Dinocephalosaurus, a marine Tanystropheid that is the only archosauromorph for which live-bearing is known. We briefly talked about this animal in the latest ep of @SquaMatesPod we recorded last Sunday, out on the 22nd #paleoart #sciart
The #Armory 641 - Archosaur! Spyro has now became a Nobody! His weapon? Different Horn Armor, named after different species of lizards.
