I do wish the show was properly remastered from film elements. The animation cels on eBay look great and some show detail missing in the analog tape.

I just randomly got these two Urusei Yatsura cels (and for under ¥2000 as well!)
One with Ataru and Ten, complete with genga and production notes and the other with Sakura!

Shouldn't cels be THE reference? They're the original artwork, I find it hard to believe the paint was mixed with the idea that it would show up differently on film. I think the issue comes from how even the same/similar cels can look wildly different depending on the scanner.
