Though both emotes have the same quality at their intended size, I feel like I'm actually improving a bit at the details I put in them!

I mean stuff like the reflection in the eyes, contrast of the shadows, and the detail in the tiara ♥️ It's unnecessary, but still fun to add 🥰

This incredibly well done, the anatomy, the shadows, the hair ah that hair! Everything in general I loved.

But.. notice this small "error", rather "forgetfulness" when noticing that the entire eyelash is not colored.
It made me super happy XD

By the way, speculars can touch cast shadows, like here under the nose. This will often lead to a hard edge due to value contrast. Sargent knew this and used it to his advantage!

As I already drew Kamala Harris I had to draw Joe Biden.
TBH I do not think I managed to get the likeness in this image. I struggled both with the shadows, but also on all the fine lines in his face. Might need to give this one another go later on.

Not very recommended I think, but I did a couple quick tests of painting light on instead of shadows, idk some interesting results but that's probably just because I increased my usual value range for sketches like this.

Compared to past years my art has just.. kind of improved in small ways rather than big ways?

I think I've gotten a better grasp at character designing, I have changed a bit how I do colors and shadows, tweaked how I draw faces and bodies.. small changes pilling up!

Haha, love tubba blubba! Mostly I just pushed the tortuga into the bg some more, but have a bit of sparkle to his eye and some drool. Also darkening the foreground helps with depth! And as a tip for shadows, the darkest part is usually along the middle, when lit above and below.
