I was watching Kanojo, Okarishimasu or Rent-A-Girlfriend and I like how Mami’s line is translated. The original line, 「それともマニュアル？」 or “Did you get that from a manual/script?” sounds stilted but translating it to “shtick” gets her point across with intentional malice

I think that's because most pony manes are basically mohawks, so when translating those styles to human hair, they have to add additional elements to it so it doesn't look strange. Take Fluttershy, for example, who was given extra locks of hair on the side and behind her head.
