Izcalli was the last of 18 months (20-day months) in the Aztecs’ solar calendar, roughly coinciding with our period of January 20th - February 8th. The festival of Izcalli (‘Sprout’ or ‘Rebirth’) was dedicated to Tlaloc and Xiuhtecuhtli.

Creatures of Cipactli (Aztec)
A monstrous crocodile-like being with additional mouths adorned on its joints. The manifestation of hunger, eventually devouring all of creation. The body of a slain Cipactli is told to be the land upon which Humans tread.
