I literally shade hair so boring
I just solid color it and then i add teardrop shaped blobs of color burn on the underside of the spikey parts
And sometimes I do the pointy highlights on top of the solid color

it's actually a super easy method I figured out!! first I color the base kinda flat, then I put white blobs on a layer set to overlay, then I use a leaf brush on a masking layer on that overlay layer, and then add motion blur to the leaves! it's super simple and looks great!! : )
