Grotesques were a fantastic genre of decorative arts most common in the 16th & 17th centuries. They explored a blend of animal, plant, & human forms. These elements were found in ancient Roman grottoes. Over time, the word became over-exaggerated & developed a negative meaning.
Not the first time an assistant has explored multiple realities, and this won't be the last one.

For reference this lad is a repaint of one of my first digital paintings back in uni. The character himself is the guy I explored Lordran for the first time with, kitted out in black iron armour, dark wraith helm, bastard sword and Solaire's sun shield. Good times! :)

@homuncudev there's this upcoming game called Unexplored 2 that seems to be taking the concept to a very interesting point, it has permadeath but you can choose to play the same world again as another character in the future, and your previous actions evolve the old world further
