If you haven't yet, check out the original version. I got a Blu-ray set a few years ago and it's fabulous. It has all the original episodes and keeps the narrative intact - including Berg Katse's gender fluidity, which was excised from the American version.

I understand why in the context of the story Diana felt like she had to do this, and I think the narrative is treating it like the big deal it is. Because this entire arc is framed around this action seeming/being entirely out of step with Diana’s beliefs and prior behavior
