Some close up, I've been using a lot of round opcacity & hard round brush on this, I haven't done this since I was 16 years old or something lol. Ever since smudging brushes appeared with Painter I stopped using opacity which made me lost that transparent gouache feeling.

2700 people, hello! Here’s a new piece; Aerotitan sudamericanus, a medium-sized Azhdarchid pterosaur from South America. Wanted to try out different stuff with this one. The pterosaur is drawn only with a low opacity “pencil” brush.

tried to make the speedpaint, and the program i used slapped an ugly-ass middle of the screen 80% opacity watermark over it, aaand i dont feel like getting another program and waiting another hour to get that sorted

i miss how i used to do my linework so much, but it would take me hours sometimes, bec it was a soft round brush on low opacity and i would go over it over and over till it had the weight i liked 🙃 i’ll draw all you again, i promise

what i got so far for cat spec. the general idea i wanna work w/ is he has a 'shade' overlay on top of his real body informed by memories. the opacity of which should obscure his undeadness for the most part. didnt get too into rendering tho, mostly sorting out structure

Thank you so much! Here’s the other doodles from the set, it’s a really fun style to work with! Lots of mobility and ability to pick and choose what lines to keep without worrying about pen pressure/opacity. Neat stuff!

Fun tip! When done with your art, copy the whole thing (bg invisible) as merged layer, make selection of layer, create new layer above, set to glow dodge, make a pink or purple to transparent gradient from top corner, bring down opacity. Adds lovely color to your art!

For the lighting, I used a layer of color, set to “OVERLAY”, reduced opacity.

Little details I am proud of:

Under water ripples
Slight waves on the water geometry
Foam line where other models contact the surface
The way colours fade out underwater
the surface ripples
how they fade in the distance
The opacity-fade at the foam edges
